CQI-34 (Software Assurance Approval Process) Overview Training

Course Duration: 1 Day

PPAP is the benchmark production material qualification process across manufacturing sectors, first introduced by the automotive sector and now adopted by aerospace and others. This process was developed when the automobile was primarily mechanical in design. Recently, the vehicle has increasingly started using electrical and electronic elements supported by embedded software to provide these functions to assure the quality and reliability of software components, the AIAG developed CQI-34 (the Software Assurance Approval Process).

This one-day overview course focuses on the automotive process, showing how SAAP is the culmination of the Advanced Product Quality Process (APQP) and providing a detailed examination of SAAP requirements. Participants will have a unique opportunity to understand the make-op of a SAAP package during the seminar and determine if it meets SAAP requirements. Participants will also understand the importance of customer-specific requirements as they apply to SAAP while reviewing some examples.

The approaches discussed and employed in this course are consistent with the intent and requirements in the CQI-34 Reference Manual, 1st Edition issued by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG).

Learning Objectives

  • Understand and be able to list SAAP requirements
  • Explain the purpose of SAAP levels and the relationship between SAAP and PPAP
  • Be able to assess a SAAP package for conformance to SAAP requirements using a checklist
  • Explain when the customer should be notified of changes
  • Identify all aspects of an initial production run
