Course Duration: 2 Days

The intacs®-certified Hardware SPICE® training demonstrates how Automotive SPICE® can be applied to process improvement in hardware engineering through the intacs® extension.

This course, designed for those pursuing certification as an intacs®-certified Hardware SPICE® Assessor, provides a concise overview of Hardware SPICE® and its integration into Automotive SPICE® via the Hardware Development extension. This model enables the systematic development of automotive electronic hardware.

Targeted at Automotive SPICE® assessors and experts, the training explains the core concepts of the Automotive SPICE® standard and details each process through practical examples and exercises.

Participants gain first-hand insights from experts directly involved in developing the Hardware Development extension—a collaborative effort led by the intacs® assessor cooperative.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the purpose, structure, and scope of the Hardware SPICE® PRM/PAM training
  • Gain familiarity with the HW processes, including performance indicators, rating rules, and rationale
  • Develop the ability to interpret and apply HW content in assessment contexts
  • Recognize key mappings between HW processes and ISO 26262 to support functional safety alignment

Course Outline

Day 1

  • Introduction to Automotive SPICE® 4.0 and Hardware SPICE® PRM/PAM 3.0
  • Deep dive into HWE.1–HWE.4 processes, including VDA guideline alignment
  • Hands-on exercises to reinforce hardware design and verification concepts
  • Semiconductor development perspectives and practical considerations

Day 2

  • Analysis of hardware work products and related system/support processes
  • Interpretation of SYS and Non-ENG processes in hardware contexts
  • Guided assessment practice using the Hardware SPICE® PRM/PAM
  • Final exam and wrap-up of key training concepts

Please note that this agenda serves as a general guide. Session timing and content may be adjusted to accommodate participant needs, group dynamics, or instructional priorities—ensuring an optimal learning experience throughout the training.

Who Should Attend

  • All intacs® certified Provisional, Competent or Principal Assessors for Automotive SPICE® who want to perform assessments according to the HWE PRM/PAM
  • “intacs® certified Process Experts” who wish to understand Hardware SPICE® PRM/PAM and utilize it in development activities
  • Professionals without any intacs certification who wish to learn about “Hardware SPICE”. However, they won’t be able to participate in Exam.

Course Materials

intacs developed course materials will be provided to all participants in digital format

Note: Omnex does not provide copies of standard(s) during training courses, but clients are encouraged to have their own copy.

Pre-Requisite

Participants should have passed the “intacs® certified Process Expert Automotive SPICE®” training OR have “intacs® certified Provisional Assessor” or higher Assessor certification

Exam

The exam is administered exclusively by VDA QMC; Omnex does not conduct or proctor the examination.

  • Examination fees are separate from the training price.
  • Online delivery is facilitated via Zoom or similar
  • Webcam access is mandatory throughout the exam session.
